Cutting-edge Materials for Electrical ES and Efficiency Group (CUTT-e Materials) of Institute of Emerging Technologies, Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) offers growth manufacturing processes (CVD routes at atmospheric and low pressure along with plasma) for pure/multi metals, alloys, oxides as well as carbon allotropes with flexibility, low cost, high purity and high yield. In addition, the group is offering material characterisation equipment for analysing the properties of the materials developed by the growth equipment (XPS, SEM-EDS, EIS, UV-VIS, Cyclic Voltametry, etc).
State of the art: Development and characterisation of highly reliable, controllable and throughput deposition processes of next-generation materials (i.e. thin films, nanostructures and nanocomposites) for ES and efficiency technologies including fuel cells, batteries, capacitors and superconductors.
Services currently offered by the infrastructure: The scientific achievements include the growth and characterisation of electroactive metal oxides, metal oxides with photocatalytic action, thermochromic and electrochromic layers. The facilities are currently utilized by UCC, Imperial College London, University College London and Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology.
